ThatDopeAwards: Best of 2011 (Best Free Album)

Since all the cool kids are doing it, I've decided to do my own best of the year post, with a little spin to it. I'll present my year in review like an award show, nominating 5 acts for each category and revealing at the end who was the winner.
The second category to be revealed is Best Free Album, to be considered for nomination the project had to be released in 2011, had to be available for free, it had to be dope and had to have some kind of impact on the culture.

The nominees are:

Big K.R.I.T. - Return Of 4Eva
K.R.I.T. is able to blend his southern trunk music style with conscious rap to reinvent himself once more.

Listen: Big K.R.I.T. - The Vent

Clams Casino - Instrumental
The current ASAP affiliate is known for his hard-banging with an emotional haunting female voice in the background instrumentals. He puts all his best work in this 'tape and lets the whole world hear the masterpiece.
Listen: Clams Casino - Motivation
Elzhi - Elmatic
The Detroit emcee pays homage to arguably the best Hip-Hop album ever and experiments with new sounds alongside the legendary beats.

Listen: Elzhi - Halftime
Mr. Muthafuckin ExQuire - Lost In Translation
Dark, grimy New York music at it's best. Production by the great El-P and drunken rhymes with a touch of depression makes it entertaining to hear.

Listen: Mr. Muthafuckin ExQuire - The Last Huzzah
Frank Ocean - nostalgia, Ultra
The R&B singer gives a very passionate and heartfelt effort on a surprise project that almost no one had on their radar.

Listen: Frank Ocean - Swim Good
