Since all the cool kids are doing it, I've decided to do my own best of the year post, with a little spin to it. I'll present my year in review like an award show, nominating 5 acts for each category and revealing at the end who was the winner. The first category is Best Paid Album, to be considered for nomination the project had to be released in 2011 (duh!), had to be available for purchase, had to be dope and had to have some kind of impact on the culture.
The nominees are:

Action Bronson - Dr. Lecter
The Queens emcee brings a refreshing look to old-school Hip-Hop. 15 tracks of fun New York sound, great production and sharp lyricism.

The Roots - undun
Reinventing themselves once again, the veteran Hip-Hop band choose to make a concept album with a lot of experimental Jazz influence and top-notch rhymes from the criminally slept-on Black Thought.
Listen: The Roots - The OtherSide
Two superstars get together to boast about how much more money they have than the average person, boosting each other's ego and occasionally taking a personal route over experimental beats. Something like this can only be pulled off by great artists.
